Today’s top NBA player prop picks

Jalen Brunson under 38.5 points + rebounds + assists (-120)

The New York Knicks have a promising game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks in many ways, but that number is just a little too high for Jalen Brunson based on his recent performances.

Atlanta is a fast team (3rd) and a mediocre team (19th) defensively.

Similar encounters haven’t resulted in big games for Brunson, however.

In six games against teams ranked in the top 10 in pace and in the bottom half in defensive rating, Brunson has averaged a combined 38.2 points, rebounds and assists.

This is despite the fact that he shot 48.8% from three attempts (3.3 attempts on 6.8 attempts) in this split. With the shooting distribution more in line with his long-term averages (since 2022-23), he would post an average PRA of 35.9 in this sample.

Additionally, in those six games, Brunson only posted a 39+ PRA in two of them.

In a previous meeting with Atlanta this season, Brunson totaled 28 PRA in 36.8 minutes.

Stephen Curry under 31.5 points + assists (-118)

While the Houston Rockets are about average in terms of pace, they rank second in the NBA in defensive rating and ultimately third in points allowed per game.

They have also allowed 21.8 assists per game, making them the only team to allow fewer than 23.1 assists per game.

The Golden State Warriors have faced the Rockets twice this year, but Stephen Curry missed both games.

However, we can look at some comparable games.

In nine games against teams ranked in the top 10 by defensive rating this season, Curry has averaged 30.9 combined points and assists.

He did it despite shooting above his long-term average of three (43.7% compared to 41.6% since the start of the 2022-23 season).

Additionally, he was lucky in assists, dishing out 6.2 helpers, while his team’s long-term conversion average would have been around 5.3.

Therefore, his expected PA in this split is only 29.4.

Amen Thompson over 6.5 rebounds (-132)

However, in the same game, Amen Thompson is able to collect rebounds.

The Warriors are allowing the fourth-most rebounds per game this season, and Alperen Sengun is questionable for today’s game.

Thompson is already averaging 7.0 boards per game this year, and in nine games against teams ranked in the bottom 10 in rebounds allowed per game, Thompson has increased his rebounding to an average of 8.4 boards.

He had at least 7 rebounds (88.9%) against poorly rebounding teams in eight of those nine games.

Thompson has also recorded 9.5 boards per game in two meetings with the Warriors this season.
