Wheel of Fortune Fans were in for a huge change this year when Ryan Seacrest replaced Pat Sajak as host alongside Vanna White. But some things never change, namely participants’ puzzling incorrect estimates.

5. What the fuck?

On the April 30 episode, Kimberly Wright of Apopka, Florida, experienced a particularly “painful” moment, according to fans. The puzzle board read “YOU _ _ – _ ILLED PLATYPUS,” and Wright had a chance to solve it, or at least add more money to the pot, by guessing a correct letter. Instead, she guessed the letter “F” and probably thought it was a “duck platypus.”

Another player jumped in with the correct answer “duck-billed platypus” and secured the money and, since it was a prize puzzle, a trip to Puerto Rico worth $7,863.

4. This is a fixed number

Is romance dead? Sajak certainly seemed to think so during the Valentine’s Day special on February 14, when a couple competing as a team came up with a very wrong and unromantic answer to a riddle.

During the Sweethearts Week episode, Trent and Christy Turner, who have been married for 32 years, came forward under a “thing” puzzle that read “_ N _ _ GEM _ NT _ IN _.” Trent whispered in Christy’s ear before entering with her guess… “Investment firm.” That was obviously wrong, allowing another couple to jump in with the correct answer, “engagement ring.”

Sajak couldn’t resist making a joke and said to Joe and Amy: “You were romantic; they were just practical.”

3. Believe it and cry

On the Oct. 1 episode, a contestant stunned fans by not knowing the name of TV and movie star Michael B. Jordan. Rasheda Tobias (above) of Kernersville, North Carolina, was in control of a mystery in the Show Biz category. The board read: “_I C _ AE _’ ​​​​’_ .’ ‘JORDAN’ ‘STARS’ ‘IN’ ‘CREED’.”

Tobias decided to make a guess and answered, “Michael P. Jordan stars in Creed.” Of course, that was wrong, because the actual answer was “Michael B. Jordan stars in Creed.”

“MICHAEL P JORDAN?!? How are you screwing this up?!?” wrote a fan on X at the time.

“This lady just said Michael P. Jordan…” another viewer commented.

Another added: “Vanna’s face when that lady said Michael P. Jordan was talking about screwing up!”

“Michael P. Jordan??? “I guess that’s Michael B. Jordan’s twin,” joked a fourth.

Naturally, WoF Fans experienced two viral fails this year, one under Sajak and the other under Seacrest. On May 22, Tavaris Williams made a completely wild guess in the toss-up round. The $1000 Puzzle searched for “This is the best.” Partially filled in, he confidently answered with the answer heard around the world: “Right in the ass!” Former host Sajak was speechless and a teammate shouted: “What?”

On the November 11 episode, Will Jordan, a Coast Guard veteran and now 23-year-old police officer from Wethersfield, Connecticut, called to answer a “phrase” puzzle. Only a few letters were blank and the correct answer was “Give yourself a round of applause.”

However, Jordan incorrectly guessed: “Treat yourself to a round of sausage.” After a false guess of incredible size, his competitor Kitina answered correctly. “Will, I kind of like yours better,” new host Seacrest joked afterwards, adding: “That sounds better than just clapping.”

The sausage snafu certainly secured Jordan’s place in the world WoF History books and connected the internet in pure game show joy.
