PHOENIX (AZFamily) – An Alaska Airlines flight to Phoenix experienced severe turbulence on Thursday, sending several people to the hospital.

At 2:30 p.m., Alaska Airlines Flight 700 from Seattle encountered severe turbulence en route to Phoenix.

Medical professionals waited at the Phoenix gate for the flight to arrive. Alaska Airlines said several crew members and a guest received medical attention.

The sole passenger was not taken to the hospital, but several crew members were, the airline Arizona’s Family said.

Alaska Airlines made national headlines this week after a passenger aboard a flight arriving in Seattle opened the emergency exit door and climbed onto the plane’s wing. The passenger was eventually taken to the hospital, but no injuries were reported.
