The Bears’ penalty negates one of Caleb Williams’ best throws of his rookie NFL season

Caleb Williams showed his untapped potential during his rookie season with the Chicago Bears. But it seems that for every step forward, Williams and the team take two steps back.

That was certainly the case Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Both offenses were abysmal in the first half, and neither team even made it into the end zone once before heading to the locker room.

Williams and the Bears came close to scoring a touchdown, but their scoring drive was negated by a costly holding penalty. Williams shot a dime to Rome Odunze in the end zone for a nice finish, but it was all for naught due to the offensive defense.

What a throw.

Williams threw across his body and hit Odunze almost 30 yards away in the ranks. The only problem was how long the play took to stage. Williams moving left caused an offensive lineman to commit a holding violation in a lengthy battle in the trenches.

Still, the stunning throw was on the money, and it was the latest evidence in a long line of brief glimpses of the talent the Bears want to discover in their franchise quarterback.
