Add another highlight to Matt Eberflus’ growing disaster resume.

The Bears let nearly half a minute pass after Caleb Williams was sacked with 33 seconds left in the game and a timeout in the pocket, resulting in a 23-20 loss to the Lions.

When Williams landed the ball at the Lions’ 41-yard line with about five seconds left, a long, incomplete pass was the final play of the game.

In the CBS booth, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo chided Chicago for a lack of urgency in an impressive comeback from a 16-0 halftime deficit against the now 11-1 Lions.

“You better hurry up, oh no, there’s a catastrophe here,” Nantz said anguishedly on the CBS broadcast. “You have to do something with it, it depends on this piece. Incomplete. And the game is over. Completely botched by the Bears in the end.”

“I can’t believe they didn’t take some time off,” Romo added.

Williams rallied the Bears with three second-half touchdowns and drove them into field goal range to potentially tie the game with a drive that started at their own 1.

Meanwhile, Lions quarterback Jared Goff struggled in the final two quarters of the game, scoring just seven points after the Detroit offense took full control in the first half.

Goff finished the game with 221 yards and two touchdown passes; both against Matt LaPorta.

The Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron three weeks ago, which has led to improvements behind interim OC Thomas Brown but no wins.

Their offense has yet to click while Williams, the No. 1 pick in the draft, is besieged behind a struggling line.

Williams was sacked 54 times, which was worst in the NFL.

Eberflus is under fire for Chicago as the team has lost six straight games, with one coming on a Hail Mary and another on a blocked field goal.
