CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The Cincinnati Bengals’ newest player, Cade York, will be the starter against the Dallas Cowboys in the Monday Night Football game in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium.

York is a second-year player at Louisiana State University and a fourth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2022. He played in all 17 games as a rookie, converting 24 of 32 field goal attempts and 35 of 37 PATs.

York was signed to the Browns’ practice squad for the 2023 season and was traded to the Washington Commanders during training camp in 2024.

The Bengals picked him up on December 4 after starting kicker Evan McPherson was placed on the injured/reserved list.

In Week 13, McPherson suffered a groin injury during the rivalry game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which the Bengals lost 44-38 at Paycor Stadium. He will be out for at least four weeks.

On Monday afternoon, the team elevated York from the practice squad to the active roster, meaning he will be the starting kicker during the game against the Cowboys.

In addition to the list of key injured players, Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankin will also not participate in the Monday Night Football game.

Brown initially suffered a fibula injury against the Browns in October. He re-injured his fibula during the Bengals’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles, causing him to miss the next three games.

On December 1, Brown returned to the field after a time out and re-injured his fibula during the Steelers game.

Brown did not participate in practice on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

According to an injury report, Rankin will not play on Monday due to illness.

On Thursday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson will miss the remainder of the season due to a “surgical repair” of his knee.

Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones is currently questionable due to a groin injury.

The Cowboys also suffered injuries to several players, some of whom will not play on Monday.

Cowboys guard Zac Martin will not play because of ankle and shoulder injuries, and Juanyeh Thomas, a safety for Dallas, will not play because of a knee injury.

Three other players are listed as questionable: Tackle Tyler Guyton has an ankle/knee injury (did not practice this week), inside linebacker Nick Vigil has a foot injury (did not practice this week) and cornerback Trevon Diggs has a knee injury, although he did Only limited participation in training per week.

Kickoff for the Monday Night Football game is at 8:15 p.m
