From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground as the story unfolds. Whether it’s investigating the finances of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, “The A Word,” which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is is to get the facts out of the PAC messaging.

At such a critical moment in U.S. history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to continue sending journalists who speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news organizations, we choose not to use paywalls to exclude Americans from our reporting and analysis. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone and paid for by those who can afford it.

The Christmas tree is up, the turkey is ready and the presents are being bought frantically. The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner and right behind it comes the second most wonderful time – the Boxing Day sales.

Every year I see retailers like Amazon and Argos slash prices on Apple’s top technology as part of the Boxing Day sales. So if you’re in the mood for some post-Christmas spending, now is the best time to upgrade your devices.

If discounts are anything like Black Friday this year, everything from AirPods, Apple Watches and iPads to iPhones, MacBooks and more should be getting tasty discounts in the Boxing Day sales.

Below, I’ll break down the best Boxing Day deals you can expect on Apple devices, as well as the best deals you can snag right now. The team and I will be here for you throughout the Christmas period to guide you to the best post-Christmas bargains.

When do the Apple Boxing Day deals start in 2024?

The clue is in the name. The Boxing Day deals on Apple technology officially begin on Boxing Day itself, Thursday December 26th. But that’s not the whole story.

Over the last few years I’ve seen retailers start their Boxing Day sales as early as Christmas Eve. And while the Boxing Day sales used to be a one-day affair, the sales extend into January, where they then become the January sales.

I don’t expect the discounts on Apple technology in January to be as good as the savings on Boxing Day sales. Most retailers often use the January sales to clear out inventory, and Apple products are generally not considered inventory. So if you see a good discount on an Apple device during the Boxing Day sales, it’s worth snapping up.

The best Apple Boxing Day deals you can expect in 2024

Boxing Day sales are typically a belated continuation of Black Friday sales, so you can expect many of the same tech deals to pop up again on Black Friday.

That means there are sure to be bargains on Apple’s flagship AirPods Pro 2, with retailers slashing them by £50 in Black Friday sales. But lucky for you, you can actually save on these popular earbuds right now – they make great gifts.

If you’re in the market for a new Apple Watch, Argos has reduced the Series 9 to under £300 for the first time in its Black Friday sales, and I’m hoping for a similar result in its Boxing Day sales. Anyone looking for a new iPad should look for a discount on the 10th generation iPad, which received a significant discount in the Black Friday sale – and is currently still discounted. And if you’re in the market for a new iPhone 16, carriers should be offering plenty of discounts on the latest device.

Still at their all-time low price from the Black Friday sales, now is the time to buy Apple’s flagship headphones if your headphones need an upgrade. Technology critic David Phelan praised them in his review, saying they were still better than the AirPods 4 even though they were older. Thanks to better audio quality, you get six hours instead of five on a single charge; There are touch controls on the headphones themselves, so you can adjust the volume without having to take your phone out of your pocket. There’s also a MagSafe case with a carrying strap for easy charging and storage.

Another piece of Apple technology discounted on Black Friday and still on sale. This is the lowest price I’ve seen for a pack of four AirTags since 2022. If you’re like me and constantly misplace things (or are just afraid of losing them), this four-pack is a must-have. I love how you can track your stuff in the Find My app and even get detailed directions when you’re nearby. The battery lasts over a year, so you don’t have to worry about constant replacement.

Apple Watch Series 9, GPS, 41mm: Was £349, now £299, Argos.co.uk

The Apple Watch Series 9, which launched last September, may not be the newest model in Apple’s repertoire, but it’s still a very good smartwatch. With an always-on display and the brightest screen ever on an Apple Watch, it’s the new S9 processor that sets this Apple Watch apart. With a saving of £50, it’s worth buying if you’re looking for a new smartwatch to help you smash your fitness goals in 2025. In tech critic David Phelan’s review, he said: “It’s effortless and responsive. You can use it to snooze an alarm, pause a timer, play music, and more.”

Apple iPad, 10th Gen, 2022: Was £329, now £289, Amazon.co.uk

Reduced again to the lowest price I saw on Black Friday, you can still grab the latest entry-level iPad with a huge £40 discount before Christmas. “The new design, faster processor, better and larger display are well worth the price, and the new iPad is a real competitor to the iPad Air, which normally costs £170 more,” said tech critic David Phelan in his review . “In my opinion this is the best tablet under £500 from any manufacturer,” he added.

Apple MacBook Air (2024) 13.6-inch, M3 processor, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Silver: Was £1,499, now £1,299, Johnlewis.com

Save £200 on this MacBook Air with the latest M3 processor. “The Apple M3 is extremely fast,” said tech critic David Phelan when testing this model. “The M2 was no slouch and handled every task I routinely throw at it with aplomb, but the M3 is faster and means this chip can handle it unless you have demanding and unusual programs that are particularly memory intensive.” Overall, David called the MacBook Air “the best all-purpose notebook you can buy” due to its “gorgeous looks and deeply impressive performance.”

Here’s a modest £20 saving on the Apple Watch SE. After reviewing the wearable, tech critic David Phelan found the device’s performance to be “smooth and responsive.” From cardio fitness notifications to accident and fall detection, this is a clever piece of kit that doesn’t look too shabby either. It’s currently available at a discount in a range of color options, so you’re sure to find one that suits you.
