Scarlet Witch with her MCU skin in Marvel Rivals.

Scarlet Witch / Marvel

Scarlet Witch is currently an absolute monster in Marvel Rivals. Scarlet Witch has:

– The ability to fly
– A simple attack that requires little aim and deals high damage
– Magic missiles that deal a lot of damage
– Slow fall that can help save her in certain situations
– An AoE stun
– An ultimate ability that can kill all 6 members of the enemy team with a single attack

There’s literally nothing she can’t do, and basically nothing she can’t do better than anyone else. She is one of the simplest characters in the game, requires minimal mechanical skills to function well, minimal gaming knowledge to understand, and is good on any map and in any situation. It’s almost never a bad thing to have in any composition. She easily tops every Marvel Rivals tier list.

Psylocke in Marvel Rivals.

Psylocke/Marvel

Psylocke is certainly a lot harder to play well than Scarlet Witch, which is why she’s in second place. She has a strong damage burst, good escape ability, a combination of ranged and melee attacks, and a powerful AoE ultimate capable of destroying weakened tanks and soft heroes in the back row. She is an incredibly powerful heroine.

Although the game gives it a difficulty rating of 5 stars, the player should not be afraid of it. It’s not nearly as difficult to play as you might be led to believe.

Magneto in Marvel Rivals.

Magneto/Marvel

Magneto comes in third here and is the best-placed tank. He deals decent damage from a distance, which is nice, but what really makes him strong is his incredibly useful Metallic Curtain barrier, which is only surpassed by Doctor Strange’s shield.

The other half of his value, and what puts him ahead of Strange, are his two bulwark shields, which make him or an ally immune to damage for a short time. He has amazing survivability that helps both himself and his allies, a decent ultimate ability, and solid ranged damage. He is clearly the best tank in the game right now.

Doctor Strange in Marvel Rivals.

Doctor Strange/Marvel

Doctor Strange makes it as the second best tank. Doctor Strange and Magneto demonstrate the power of a great barrier that can protect both themselves and their allies. Captain America’s shield is much less useful as it absorbs less damage, has a longer cooldown, and a smaller hitbox.

Doctor Strange also provides decent ranged damage. It’s much harder for tanks to make room in Marvel Rivals than, for example, in a game like Overwatch. Tanks generally rely heavily on their healers to spam them to do anything.

This means that tanks that can deal decent ranged damage and provide easy damage control (e.g. a huge shield that completely covers them) will be very valuable.

Iron Fist in Marvel Rivals.

Iron Fist / Marvel

Iron Fist is a great DPS. He has strong survivability and can obliterate and harass enemy defenses. Healers with DPS and tanks that don’t work for them will get comfortable with being a good Iron Fist player very quickly.

Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals.

Jeff the Land Shark / Marvel

Jeff the Land Shark is as annoying as he is adorable. His ultimate “IT’S JEFF!” is currently one of the dumbest and most broken abilities in the entire game. It allows him to eat anyone, including allies and enemies, and then spit them out one by one.

Players have found that an extremely effective way to use this ultimate ability is to devour as many enemies as possible and then simply kill yourself. Eat enemies and jump to your death from the map. This will kill you, of course, but it will also kill everyone you ate (including allies, so spit them out first) with no chance of escape.

Jeff’s healing is fine. It’s not terrible and it’s not unbelievable. His ability to increase his movement speed and swim up walls (yes, up walls) gives him strong survivability and movement ability, but he’s basically just here for his ultimate ability.

Normally something like this would be incredibly situational, but as it turns out, luckily for Jeff players, there’s at least one location on every single map in Marvel Rivals that’s perfect for Jeff.

Adam Warlock in Marvel Rivals.

Adam Warlock/Marvel

Adam Warlock has great healing, great damage, and decent survivability. Since it lacks movement, positioning is particularly important. With the ability to revive himself and an ultimate ability to undo the deaths of up to five of his teammates, Adam Warlock is always a good choice.

His ultimate ability can be quite situational, but when that situation arises, it’s one of the most broken abilities in all of gaming. There’s a reason Mercy eventually lost the ability to revive her entire team.

Hela in Marvel Rivals.

Hela/Marvel

Hela has a powerful, combat-altering ultimate capable of completely dismantling the entire enemy team with massive area-of-effect damage, amazing range, and incredibly powerful critical hits. She is easily one of the best options for a ranged DPS.

Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals.

Spider-Man/Marvel

Amazing and incredibly annoying, Spider-Man is a fantastic dive-fighting hero who can harass enemy defenses and completely eliminate healers from the fight so the rest of his team can roll over.

Be warned, though: Spider-Man is easily one of, if not the hardest, heroes in the game to play. He needs both good mechanics and a strong understanding of the game to recognize when to try to go in and when to swing away.

Mantis in Marvel Rivals.

Praying Mantis / Marvel

Mantis lands on the list due to her powerful ultimate ability and, more importantly, how quickly she can charge. It offers decent damage for its role and can provide great healing if played correctly.

There are situations in quick play where you may be the only healer and she may be one of the more difficult healers to heal alone due to the emphasis on healing effects over time rather than instant healing, but it is still doable. In regular games with two healers, Mantis is almost always a respectable choice that can easily be the best healer.
