The second annual Pop-Tarts Bowl was a real sweet treat.

In the middle of the exciting duel between Iowa State University and the University of Miami, which ended in a 42-41 victory for the Cyclones, Pop-Tarts caused chaos on the field.

At the 2024 Bowl Game, fans met three mascots, Hot Fudge Sundae, Wild Berry and Cinnamon Roll, through an unveiling — sorry, unwrapping — before the game began.

Throughout the evening, the three Pop-Tarts competed to be the fan favorite. Wild Berry sparked a memorable meme when the mascot tiptoed behind a referee from the sidelines before hiding again when noticed.

Meanwhile, Hot Fudge Sundae caught the attention of Miami’s mascot, Sebastian the Ibis, who tried to take a bite of the treat.

In the end, after Iowa State narrowly won the game, the team’s quarterback, Rocco Becht, got to choose which treat he wanted to send into a giant toaster. Becht picked cinnamon rolls and the mascot held up a sign that said “Follow your dreams” as they met their sweet and fiery fate.

“Heaven has gained another angel!” the official X account for the Pop-Tarts Bowl footage of the moment, with captions.

After their big win, Iowa State players were spotted devouring the giant edible breakfast tart costume.

Aside from the mascots, the game contained numerous references to Pop-Tarts. Sprinkles were painted along the sidelines and there was a working toaster on the winning team’s trophy.

Instead of dousing each other with gallons of Gatorade after winning the game, players covered their coaches in tons of mini Pop-Tarts.

The chaos didn’t end there. Fans also got to experience the resurrection of the Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tart.

Last year, Frosted Strawberry sacrificed itself to Kansas State’s taste buds in the inaugural Pop-Tarts Bowl.

This year, in a powerful moment on the field, the three mascots stood with tissues, flowers and a toaster and watched as Frosted Strawberry stood all over the stadium. “Hallelujah” played in the background.

Another wrote: “Pop Tarts Bowl raises the bar out here. Give them the championship game next year.”

And when one person asked why Cinnamon Roll seemed so eager to indulge in the toaster, which ultimately led to consumption, the official report on the Pop-Tarts Bowl explained.

“All Pop-Tarts want one thing more than anything else in life: to be eaten.”
