The best watches on the red carpet

Hollywood is back in business and A-listers came out to show off their chicest black-tie ensembles and matching accessories. Celebrities sat back and sipped Moët & Chandon champagne, which was perused Robb report‘s curated high-end gift bag and laughed at each other as they were roasted by host and comedian Nikki Glaser. But first, they put their best foot forward on the red carpet and there were plenty of notable watches worth discussing.

The trends largely followed last year’s themes. That means men are rocking tiny women’s watches like Colman Domingo’s 28mm Omega Constellation, big showstoppers like Jeremy Strong’s OTT diamond-encrusted Richard Mille RM 72-01, and timeless classics like Andrew Garfield’s Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos and Ke Huy Quan. There were also sporty tool watches like Glen Powell’s Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual-Time and Morris Chestnut’s Panerai Luminor. Technically speaking, there weren’t many surprises, as women’s watches are ubiquitous in men’s watches even in the sports world (even Dwyane Wade was spotted in a tiny Eternity watch from Tiffany & Co.), and actors like Strong and Jeff Goldblum are often, too known to up the ante with diamond-studded “look at me” watches. But it’s not all smoke and mirrors: We’ve seen some of these celebrity trends translate to the street, and we expect tiny, gem-encrusted watches to continue crossing the borders of red carpets and celebrity events will outgrow. For now, though, enjoy the best flexes from the Golden Globes.
