The Bucks’ winning streak ends as the Lakers brawl

The Milwaukee Bucks’ seven-game winning streak ended with a loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, while the Los Angeles Lakers were beaten by the Miami Heat.

The Bucks had won their last four games in the NBA and three in the NBA Cup – but couldn’t maintain their early 10-point lead as they lost 104-119 in Milwaukee.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points while teammate Damian Lillard added 25, but Jalen Johnson and De’Andre Hunter bounced back with 23 and 20 points, respectively, to give Atlanta its fifth straight victory.

Next up for the Bucks is a trip to the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, while the Hawks face the LA Lakers, who suffered their worst loss of the season with a 134-93 loss at the Miami Heat.

Miami guard Tyler Herro scored 31 points, including 21 in the third quarter. He finished the game with a Heat franchise-record nine made 24 three-pointers.

After jumping out to a 17-point halftime lead, the Heat set a franchise record with 42 assists and dealt a new blow to the struggling Lakers team.

LeBron James and his teammates have lost six of their last eight games, a streak that included elimination from the NBA Cup.

First-year Lakers coach JJ Redick described the performance as “embarrassing” and criticized what he described as his players’ lack of fighting spirit and professionalism.

The NBA champion Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 130-120 despite the absence of Jayson Tatum, while the Orlando Magic bounced back from a tough loss to the New York Knicks with a 106-102 victory over the injury-plagued 76ers in Philadelphia.

The LA Clippers lost to the Timberwolves (80-108) for the second time in five days, while the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Indiana Pacers 99-90.
