The Bulldogs are eliminated in their first real away game

The Butler University men’s basketball team played its first true road game of the season and was dominated on both ends of the court by No. 18 Houston, losing 79-51 to the Cougars. Four Cougars reached double figures.

Patrick McCaffery led Butler with 11 points. Augusto Cassia added 11 and 3 rebounds.

Here are three takeaways from the blowout loss.

Houston’s defense shuts down Butler

Houston plays the type of stifling, aggressive defense that forces teams to score every point. Against Butler, the Cougars shut down the Bulldogs’ typically efficient offense and held them to a season-low 51 points.
