The Chargers secure their playoff spot with a win over the Patriots

The Chargers are now looking for their first playoff win since the 2018 season, as their only appearance since then was the infamous 27-point loss to the Jaguars in the 2022 playoffs. Los Angeles is also one of five teams that have made the playoffs so far this year and have yet to win a Super Bowl.

The Bolts are the sixth AFC team to officially secure a playoff spot, and there is only one spot left within the conference.

LA did it in its first year under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh led the 49ers to the playoffs three times in his four years as coach, made it to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season and made it to the conference championship in the other two playoff seasons.

When Harbaugh was named the Chargers’ head coach earlier this year, he emphasized his goal of “getting another chance to just be known as a world champion.” Now his current team has taken the first step toward that goal by ensuring it is part of the postseason field in its first year at the helm.

All that remains for the regular season is to determine exactly where the Chargers will be and who their first postseason opponent will be.

LA’s remaining game is Week 18 against Las Vegas before the 2024 postseason campaign officially begins, hoping for a more successful outcome than its last appearance.
