The small Christian school where a teenage girl committed a bloody massacre in Wisconsin is staunchly conservative, rejects the theory of evolution and maintains that local government is chosen by God, its statement of faith says.

The details emerged as police said they were still investigating a “combination of factors” when it comes to the motive behind Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, where 15-year-old Natalie ” Samantha” Rupnow fatally shot another teenage student, a teacher pumping bullets into three other teenagers and a teacher.

“Human beings were created by a direct act of God and not by an evolutionary process,” the school’s two-page statement said.

“We believe that civil government was ordained by God to punish evildoers and protect the good.

“We therefore consider it our duty to pray for the rulers and magistrates; and to obey their authority except in matters contrary to the will of God,” the statement continued.

The school is a founding member of Impact Christian Schools, a group of Christian higher education centers in Wisconsin. According to its website, the group “believes that God wants more from education.”

Director of Elementary and School Relations Barbara Wiers reiterated the school’s beliefs at a news conference Monday.

“Despite tragedy, God works, and we believe that God is good in everything and that He turns beauty into ashes,” she said.

“He is our foundation at Abundant Life Christian School. We exist to raise up and build up the disciples of Jesus Christ so that we can have full confidence that He will carry us through this time.”
