The cold is spreading across Maine and a storm is brewing later this week

We’re just taking a look outside. AND IT LOOKS VERY NICE IN PORTLAND. THE MONUMENT SQUARE CAM IS BACK AND THERE’S THE HOLIDAY TREE. The CHRISTMAS TREE THERE. And we just need some snow to make it a little more festive down there. BUT IT LOOKS NICE. PORTLAND. ABSOLUTELY. And many of the main cities look very festive, don’t they? About now. IN ORDER. TEMPERATURES OF 30 DEGREES. We’re starting to make these temperatures suitable for the holidays too. BUT IT’S GOING TO BE REALLY COOL TODAY. 30 is fine because the sky is mostly cloudy, but it actually won’t be warming up all that much today. SO WE HAVE CLOUDS ON THE SATELLITE NOW, MAYBE A FEW SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS, BUT OTHERWISE IT’S LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. I want to show you what’s going on. LAKE ONTARIO. THE LAKE EFFECT MACHINE IS ON LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND WE CAN’T GET THAT. WE CAN POSSIBLY GET IT AT A VERY MICRO LEVEL FROM MOOSEHEAD IN SEBAGO. BUT THE GREAT LAKES ARE SO WARM RIGHT NOW. WHEN THE COLD AIR AND LOW PRESSURE ARE NEARBY AND THE COLD AIR FLOWS OVER THE WARM WATERS OF THE LAKE WHICH HAS RECORD HEAT FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. RIGHT NOW YOU COULD GET THESE LARGE SNOW BANDS AND YOU LOOK AT WE’RE NOT TALKING 2 TO 4 INCHES. With these bands we are talking about a snow depth of 0.8 to 1.2 m. And in the end it could even be that way with these sea bands. It just snows constantly, possibly for up to 4 to 5 days. So that’s what they have to do. IN ORDER. So we’re talking about better conditions to put things into perspective. RIGHT. IT’S 28 DEGREES AT 7 AM THIS MORNING, SO MAYBE YOU’LL STAY IN. I got a cup of coffee. WE’RE LOOKING AT 34 TO 11. YOU WILL SEE CLOUDS AROUND. BUT TODAY IT WILL BE BACK AND FORTH WITH CLOUDS AND SUN. IN ORDER. So we’ll have 37 on the eighth day when you go back to school tomorrow. BUT ONE THING I WANT TO APPLY FOR TOMORROW. THE WIND COOLS IN THE MORNING. IT WILL FEEL LIKE 18 IN PORTLAND. IN BETHEL IT WILL FEEL LIKE NINE, 17 IN THE SANFORD AREA, AND EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON, WHILE THE KIDS ARE AT REcess, IT WILL FEEL LIKE WHILE THE WIND IS COOLER. So this is a real winter deal. AND TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF METEOROLOGICAL WINTER. And that means it really feels like December, right? It looks like it will stay pretty calm and cool through Wednesday. And then as we approach Thursday, we have a system that really sort of arrives on Wednesday evening, on Thursday. And this could be the first measurable snow for some on the coast, but there are still a few things we need to sort out here. WE HAVE SOME RAIN ON THE COAST, SOMETHING MAY BE MIXED, BUT THERE COULD BE A TIME WHEN IT COME OVERNIGHT, WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, WHERE WE GET SNOW ON THE COAST. Looks like he’ll be out of here Thursday night. Therefore, there will be a weather impact on Thursday resulting in a snow and rain system. NOTHING BIG, BUT WE’LL KEEP AN EYE ON IT. But look what happens after that. HOW COLD IT WILL BE. SO HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MOUNTAINS TODAY. Maybe you’ll go skiing today. NOT BAD, right? 36 CUT DOWN THE CHRISTMAS TREE IN FRYEBURG OR GO TO THE FARM. YOU SEE 37 IN LEWISTON AND 41 IN ROCKLAND. OF THE EIGHT DAYS ON THE COAST, THE NEXT DAYS WILL BE WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 30S C, WITH LOWS NEAR 20C. WE HAVE THESE IMPACT FROM SNOW AND RAIN IN THE NIGHT OF WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AND THEN COLDER IN THE WEEKEND. But inland it’s a different story, folks. Low temperatures will be in the mid-teens with snow inland Thursday evening and even colder next Saturday with a high of 24°C. LOW AT 12, I THINK THE MOUNTAINS ARE IN SINGLE DIGIT. I mean, the ski mountains love it because they can make snow too. BETWEEN all of this you have reached such temperatures and ensures that it stays cold all day. It stays below freezing. SKIERS SNOWBOARDERS ARE HAPPY ABOUT THIS WEATHER. That means the snowmobilers are starting to get pretty pumped up to get even more snow. And you know, this is the only time of year when I feel like everyone is in the snow. YES, YES. EVERYONE IS EXCITED. IT’S STILL NEW. IT’S FRESH, IT’S FUN. WILL YOU BE SKIING SOON? I hope to get back on the slopes, but for now I’m just focused. I have to turn on these holiday lights and yes, it’s the holiday season first. And then think about it. LARGE. NOT IN MY GARAGE. RIGHT NOW, YOU KNOW. And now it’s getting cold. So I discussed this with my family. WE WILL DECORATE NEXT WEEKEND. BUT WITH Thanksgiving it feels weird. Like a tight curve. It’s like yeah, we don’t do that

Snow and possibly rain are on the way later this week

Today is the first day of meteorological winter, and it will certainly feel like it on December 1st, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures around 30°C. However, due to the cool wind, it will feel like mid to upper 20 degrees Celsius. Clear and very cold conditions are expected tonight, with minimum temperatures falling into the teens in many locations.
