After a dreary Saturday, more rain is expected in the DC area over the next few days. Here’s what you need to know:

Occasional rain showers make for a humid Saturday with temperatures around 50 degrees. The wet weather and fog are due to a cold air build-up pattern, according to 7News First Alert meteorologist Jordan Evans.

While the rain showers continue Sunday, a warm front moving through the area will push temperatures into the high 60s.

After a few peaks of sunshine Sunday morning, a cold front is expected to move in Sunday evening. This front could bring heavy rain showers and wind gusts up to 30 mph.

After this cold front moves through, the DC area will get some respite from the rain on Monday, with unseasonably warm temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

Conditions will be partly cloudy with some sunshine shining through and a chance of sporadic showers.

Temperatures on Tuesday will remain about the same as Monday, with rain in the afternoon and evening.

Evans said temperatures will drop throughout the week.

Here is an outlook on the forecast.

SATURDAY:
Rain and fog
Heights: 46-51
Winds: South 5-10 mph
Plan for a humid Saturday with intermittent rain and fog due to cold air insulation. This will likely result in temperatures in the upper 40s, below many forecasts, around 50 degrees. Rain totals will range from a quarter to a half inch.

SATURDAY EVENING:
Rain
Lows: 45-50
Winds: South 5-10 mph
More rain and fog across the area as the warm front approaches. The temperatures remain constant at around 50 degrees.

SUNDAY:
Rainy and mild
Heights: 62-67
Winds: South 10-20 mph
After the warm front passes, we can expect a very mild day with temperatures more reminiscent of early spring in the 60s. Rain will continue throughout the day but will be heavy at times as the cold front moves in overnight.

MONDAY:
Partly cloudy
Heights: 56-61
Winds: West 5-15 mph
Behind the front, temperatures will remain mild as another weather maker approaches from the west. The sun returns with passing clouds and a few patchy showers.

TUESDAY:
Rain in the afternoon
Heights: 53-60
Winds: South 10-15 mph
A shortwave system will move through, with more showers in the afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals of less than half an inch are expected. Plan for colder conditions the rest of the week.
