The Eagles’ seven-game winning streak is thanks in part to the combination of Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts early in the bye week

Since the bye, Philly has won seven straight while scoring 30 points per game, fourth in the NFL, heading into today’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. There was also a renewed focus on running the ball and physicality with Saquon Barkley out and the team leading the NFL with 216 rushing yards per game. The Eagles’ three turnovers are the fewest in the league.

How did all this happen? Pretty organic, according to sources.

Before the farewell, there was a discussion that essentially revolved around the following: What is the best message for the team and what is the best direction? It was a non-stop deep dive that also involved the other trainers.

According to a source, Hurts and Sirianni spent about two hours on phones, FaceTime, Zoom and in person. Then they randomly talked for 30 minutes a day as something came up. They reviewed the call sheets, talked about the team’s identity and Hurts asked pointed questions about what he could improve.

And it wasn’t just the two of them. The entire staff would get involved, with the offensive line and Barkley joining forces with respected offensive forces like OC Kellen Moore and passing game coordinator and associate head coach Kevin Patullo.

Most teams like to take a long break during the bye. But in part because of the Eagles’ early exit and because they didn’t necessarily need a break, all parties continued to work.

There were non-stop questions, from what we did in the past, what we liked, to what we did in camp, to what wasn’t working, and so on. A source shared how cool it was for Sirianni and Hurts to connect.

Although there were many questions surrounding Sirianni and Hurts’ relationship, it was actually still a work in progress. And they have made progress.

Hurts has also benefited, as he has thrown nine touchdowns against one interception since the bye, a league-best nine rushing TDs and a third-best passer rating of 116.6. He is outstanding.

And when the Eagles won against the Commanders on Thursday night in Week 11 to trigger their mini-bye, they did another mini-self-scout. The goal?

Continuing to be the most physical team.
