The first trailer for The Witcher 4 was revealed at the Game Awards

After announcing full production on The Witcher 4 late last month, CD Projekt Red has shared a first look at the next installment in the critically acclaimed fantasy RPG series. In the first trailer for The Witcher 4, revealed at the Game Awards 2024, Ciri, the adopted daughter of former protagonist Geralt, takes the lead role. The studio hasn’t announced a release date yet, but based on Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley’s introduction to the trailer by saying it offers a glimpse of “the next decade of gaming,” it’s likely we’ll get a whole one more Will wait a while.

The trailer follows Ciri as she tries to save a young woman from a sacrificial ritual. As she ventures deeper into the forest, she is attacked by a monster covered in flesh and excess limbs. Although Ciri is able to kill the creature, things don’t go quite as planned. Since this first look at The Witcher 4 is purely cinematic, we can’t yet say how Ciri will handle the controls or how the gameplay will differ from previous entries in the series. At the beginning of the year, Michał Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, explained that the upcoming game would not just be “Witcher 3 in a new look”.

While Ciri will take on the role of protagonist in The Witcher 4, it seems we’ll at least get one a little by Geralt. Although voice actor Doug Cockle stated that he wasn’t sure if Geralt would be in the game, the White Wolf himself can be heard in the final seconds of the trailer.

According to CD Projekt Red, there are currently over 400 people working on The Witcher 4. For more details on the upcoming game, check out everything we know about The Witcher 4 so far. We’ve also included some of the game’s first stills below.
