The frightening case of “The Man with Many Faces” when the victim breaks her silence with six haunting words

A woman who was sexually abused by a notorious refugee who allegedly faked his own death has broken her silence.

Nicholas Rossi, 37, who is also known as Nicholas Alahverdian, which is his legal last name, and a “pseudonym” Arthur Knight, faces two rape allegations dating back to 2008.

Now another woman, Mary Grebinski, 36, has spoken out for the first time since Rossi’s identity was revealed about how he sexually abused her as a student in Ohio in 2008.

In her first-ever television interview, airing tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC’s Dateline special “The Man of Many Faces,” she told reporter Andrea Canning six powerful words: “I should have been last.”

In an exclusive clip shared with DailyMail.com, Grebrinski became emotional as she continued: “There should have been no women from Utah – it should have ended with me.”

Rossi allegedly fled to Scotland to avoid rape charges and faked his own death. After a lengthy procedure, he was extradited back to the USA at the beginning of 2022.

He is accused of raping a 21-year-old woman and his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend in Utah. He also faces sexual assault charges in Rhode Island, Ohio and Massachusetts. In October 2024, he pleaded not guilty to the two rape charges.

Mary Grebinski, 34, was sexually abused by Rossi in 2008. She told reporter Andrea Canning during the Dateline NBC segment airing Friday, “I should have been last.”

In the Dateline segment, Grebinski is pictured standing outside the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse in Salt Lake City, Utah, ready to watch her attacker face the judge.

She told Canning: “He’s in custody. “I’ve been waiting to see him in custody for years… so it’s very nice for me.”

Grebinski was 19 when she met Rossi on MySpace in 2008. The two exchanged text messages while they were both attending Sinclair College in Ohio.

Even though she had never met Rossi in person, he approached her on campus and insisted on accompanying her to class.

She said he then forced himself on her in an empty stairwell.

Shaken, Grebinski immediately filed a report with campus police. When Rossi was questioned about the assault, he made it seem as if she initiated it.

She later told the Dayton Daily News that Rossi pushed her against a wall, began kissing her, groped her, exposed his genitals and then sexually pleasured himself.

A year later, he was found guilty of sexual immorality and public indecency and had to register as a sex offender.

Evidence collected in the Grebinski case helped prosecutors investigate other reports, including the alleged rape that occurred in Utah in September 2008.

Rossi filed two civil suits against Grebinski in 2009 and 2013 for libel and slander, which he said caused him “humiliation and emotional distress.” He lost.

When Rossi was back in the United States, he attended a number of court hearings and once asked to be addressed as Arthur Knight.

He was confined to a wheelchair and wore an oxygen mask during the procedure.

Rossi testified that he discovered in 2020 that there had been credible threats against his life that led him to move abroad, the Associated Press reported.

He claimed the threats were related to his work to reform the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families.

During testimony, he alleged that he was abused and negligent as a child in foster care in the Department of Children Youth and Families, Rhode Island’s social services system.

Last October, a judge ruled that prosecutors had presented sufficient evidence to try him on first-degree rape charges, just days after another Utah judge reached the same conclusion in the second-degree rape case.

He is currently being held in a prison in Utah; his bail is set at $250,000.

His attorney asked for a lower bond because his client was unable to pay it, but Utah County prosecutors insisted he was a flight risk, ksl.com reported.

Rossi, dubbed “the man of many faces,” is accused of carrying out a wild plan to assume a new identity during a worldwide manhunt.

He reportedly claimed he had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma before an obituary appeared two months later. He then ended up in Great Britain under the pseudonym Arthur Brown.

There he reportedly admitted to being an Irish orphan and spoke with a fake British accent.

He also took on a different appearance. At times he appeared clean-shaven and boyish. In others he wore a pearl, glasses and a dark cloak and hat. On other occasions he appeared in a wheelchair with an oxygen mask.

In July, Peacock produced a documentary about the fraudster entitled: “Rossi: A Fugitive Faking Death.”

Rossi, who reportedly used up to sixteen different names, was described by a reporter in documentaries as a “master of disguise and deception,” according to Oxygen.

During his time in Britain, Rossi met a woman named Miranda Knight, who would later become his wife. He took her last name and called himself Arthur Knight.

In 2021 the couple moved to Glasgow. When Rossi contracted Covid, he was admitted to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

While he was there, his distinctive tattoos and fingerprints matched those of the American who was being hunted by police – but who was reported dead.

Rossi told authorities that he was a British citizen and that his name was Arthur Knight.

He cclaimed he had never been to the United States and that it was a case of mistaken identity.

He said in court he didn’t know how he got his tattoos and didn’t have them when he fell into a COVID coma.

He also claimed that someone was trying to frame him, according to Datyon Daily News.

He was later described as “dishonest and deceitful, being evasive and manipulative,” the BBC reported.

The Dateline NBC segment also features exclusive interviews with District Attorney David O. Leavitt, Michael Alahverdian and State Trooper Conor O’Donnell.
