The game between Michigan and Ohio State ends in an ugly brawl after an attempt to plant a flag

Things got ugly after Michigan’s win over Ohio State.

Shortly after the Wolverines’ 13-10 win, the two teams got into a brawl near midfield after Michigan players tried to place their flag on the Ohio State logo on Saturday.

Several players could be seen trying to separate them from security, police and team personnel.

Michigan edge rusher Derrick Moore found himself in the middle of the fray, holding his team’s flag and trying to place it on the Buckeyes’ famous logo.

And Ohio State University linebacker Jack Sawyer, who had an interception in the game, ripped the Michigan flag away from the Wolverine players before tensions finally calmed down.

“Unnecessary gesture from the Wolverines,” said Fox play-by-play man Gus Johnson. “They won the game, no need to be disrespectful.”

According to multiple reports, police used pepper spray, hitting members of both teams.

Several Michigan players were seen on the Fox broadcast rubbing their eyes in obvious discomfort.

“When you have a great game like that, you hate to see something like that after the game,” Michigan running back Kalel Mullings said. “It’s just bad for the sport, bad for college football. But at the end of the day, some people need to learn how to lose.

“You can’t fight and stuff just because you lost a game. In all of these fights we had 60 minutes, we had four quarters in all of these fights. And now people want to talk and fight, that’s wrong. It’s just bad for the game. Classless, in my opinion. People need to do better.”

Saturday’s game was Michigan’s fourth straight game in this storied rivalry, although they entered this edition unranked and as massive underdogs while Ohio State was ranked No. 2 in the country.

Michigan is now 7-5 while Ohio State is 10-2.

Wolverines quarterback David Warren threw for just 62 yards and two interceptions, but Mullings rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown and Michigan’s defense stifled the Buckeyes’ offense throughout the game.

Ohio State University quarterback Will Howard struggled, throwing for 175 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

Buckeyes kicker Jeyden Fielding also missed two short field goals, while Michigan kicker Dominic Zvada coached both attempts.
