“The Hard Part”…Jamal Murray reveals the secret to a great defense against Stephen Curry

Jamal Murray gave a quick explanation of what every team must do when playing against Stephen Curry.

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Golden State Warriors 119-115 last night. Stephen Curry had one of his worst games of the year against the Nuggets.

With just 24 points and 11 assists, Curry surprisingly struggled to shoot from distance. At 4-15 from deep, the best shooter of all time didn’t look like himself last night.

Many blame the Nuggets’ strong defense against Curry for his poor numbers. And a star for the Nuggets explained what it will take to limit the four-time NBA champion.

Jamal Murray’s Guide to Guarding Stephen Curry

Jamal Murray was one of the players trusted to guard Stephen Curry and he did a good job at it. The point guard took on the responsibility very well.

And after the game, Murray explained what it takes to protect Curry. He stressed that it had to be a team effort and all players had to follow his movements on and off the ball.

“That’s the hard part. If he gives up, everyone needs to know where he will be.”

Perhaps one of the advantages for the Nuggets was the absence of Draymond Green. Green is the Warriors’ general and helps lead team movements extremely well.

Murray gave a brilliant explanation of Curry’s game. He was able to read Curry’s game quite well, much like Kobe Bryant did years before Curry’s rise to superstardom.

Curry is carrying the Warriors this season

The Warriors had low expectations heading into their team’s start to the season. After losing Chris Paul and Klay Thompson, the Warriors were unable to acquire another star to back him up.

But Stephen Curry did an excellent job of getting the team on his side. He averages 22.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game for the season.

Charles Barkley lamented that Curry has to do a lot of work to keep the Warriors afloat. After the game, Barkley said, “He has to carry so much weight on this team… Look how hard Steph has to work.”

Curry was supported by good performances from other players such as Andrew Wiggins, Buddy Hield and Draymond Green. But it’s clear that the Warriors need to upgrade their roster to remain competitive.
