The Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence leaves the game after a brutal header hit

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence left the game with what appeared to be a concussion.

Lawrence took a big shot after trying to slip and has now left the game. That’s tragic considering he only just returned after suffering an AC joint injury that caused him to miss the last two games.

Lawrence tried to slip on a run and Houston Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shair came in. He hit Lawrence in the head, causing the quarterback to appear to be in significant pain.

Lawrence appeared to have a concussion as he was slow to get up. This is a tragedy considering he only just returned after missing the last two weeks with a shoulder injury. Even though the Jaguars were 2-9 that season and not ready for the playoffs, the young quarterback still returned to action.

Now Lawrence must undergo further tests to determine the extent of the brutal headshot he just received.

After the late goal, both the Texans and Jaguars got into a heated argument. The result of the fight and the hit resulted in Al-Shair being ejected from the game.

After the ejection, fans apparently threw objects at linebacker Al-Shaair. As he was escorted off the field, the Texans defensive player was shown yelling at fans who were throwing objects at him.

This doesn’t look good overall and the league will likely investigate whether to impose further penalties on the players involved in the fight.

The Jaguars will now use Mac Jones at quarterback, and Lawrence will likely be out after suffering a suspected concussion after Al-Shaair’s hit. Losing Lawrence to a serious injury at this point in the season is terrible.

As previously mentioned, the Jaguars are in no position to make the postseason and it would have been wiser to sit out Lawrence for the remainder of the season to prepare for 2025. This is especially true considering he suffered a shoulder injury after Week 9.

Lawrence missed Weeks 10 and 11 and was able to recover during the Jaguars’ bye in Week 12. Now he will likely miss the rest of the regular season due to an apparent concussion.

Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract before the start of the 2024 regular season, making him the highest-paid quarterback of his time along with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Both receive $55 million per season under their contracts.
