Kentucky basketball continues to climb the college basketball rankings!

  • The Cats moved up to No. 4 in the new AP Top 25 poll. However, they are only the third-best SEC team as Auburn (2) and Tennessee (3) are at the top. Kansas is No. 1. Gonzaga, which Kentucky plays on Saturday, is No. 7.
  • In the latest Coaches Top 25 poll, Kentucky comes in at No. 6. The Zags are at No. 8.

  • The Cats climbed to No. 6 in the latest CBS Sports Top 25 And 1. Gonzaga is No. 10.
  • Andy Katz’s Power 37 has Kentucky at No. 5 and Gonzaga at No. 13. Clemson, which Kentucky plays on Tuesday, is No. 37.

  • KenPom has the Cats at No. 12, the Zags at No. 3 and the Tigers at No. 25.

  • BartTorvik has Kentucky at No. 9, Gonzaga at No. 5 and Clemson at No. 38.

  • EvanMiya has Kentucky at No. 9, Gonzaga all the way at No. 1 and Clemson at No. 30.

  • Finally, in the first edition of the NET, Kentucky is ranked 8th, Gonzaga is ranked 3rd and Clemson is ranked 18th.
  • It’s safe to say Kentucky has a great week ahead of them.

The Kentucky Wildcats are 7-0 for the first time since the 2016-17 season and have consistently been one of the best offenses in college basketball to start the year.

The Wildcats are playing incredibly good basketball under new head coach Mark Pope, defeating the Duke Blue Devils a few weeks ago, while taking care of business in the remaining games they play should win.

KenPom currently has Kentucky as the No. 12 team, while DRatings has the Wildcats at No. 9. Haslametrics gives Kentucky the highest rating, ranking them at No. 8.

The last Kentucky team to get off to an 8-0 start to a season was the Wildcats, who went 38-1 in 2014-2015.

This week, Pope’s team has a chance to pick up two more wins. However, their matchups at Clemson and against No. 3 Gonzaga (in Seattle) will be anything but easy.

In fact, ESPN’s Basketball Power Index considers Kentucky to be an underdog in both games, with a 49.4% chance to win against Clemson and a 41.6% chance to win against Gonzaga.

It’s not hard to see that this will be a tough week for the Wildcats, but still a good test of their chemistry and ability to thrive in difficult environments.
