The Sacramento Kings’ losing streak extended to six games after a 132-122 road loss to the Lakers on Saturday evening. Saturday’s game was the first with interim head coach Doug Christie at the helm following Friday’s unexpected decision to fire Mike Brown just before the team’s plane trip to Los Angeles. The Kings faced a Lakers team without LeBron James, but still had many problems on defense. Sacramento allowed the Lakers to hit 53.8% of their three-pointers. Despite the recent noise surrounding the team, the players came out of the gate ready to play. Sacramento led 66-65 at halftime and ran off the ropes in the third quarter, allowing 42 points. Like most of the season, the Kings’ star players put up numbers despite the loss. De’Aaron Fox dropped 29 points and 12 assists, Demar DeRozan added 25 points of his own and Domantas Sabonis flirted with a triple-double. The Kings won the rebound and turnover battle, but it wasn’t good enough. Anthony Davis dominated with 36 points and 15 rebounds, keeping the Kings searching for answers this season. Despite a tumultuous week, the schedule doesn’t stop for anyone in the NBA. The Kings return home to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
