“The entire NBA family sends its thoughts and support to the Los Angeles community during this challenging time,” the NBA said in a statement. “We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who showed tremendous courage. Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who was renting a home in Pacific Palisades, had his family evacuated early Tuesday.

“I just want to thank everyone in the Palisades right now and send them thoughts and prayers. I live there. My family and my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they were evacuated. “I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family,” he said before the Lakers’ game in Dallas on Tuesday. “…I know that many people are afraid. So I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers definitely. I hope everyone stays safe.”

Elsewhere in the NBA, Clippers star Kawhi Leonard missed the team’s loss in Denver on Wednesday to be with his family after they were evacuated from the Palisades area.
