The Lakers opt for a remarkable change of attitude with Bronny James

With Bronny James, the training wheels are starting to wobble a bit.

NBA writer Chris Haynes reported Wednesday that Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny will make his G League away debut later this week. Bronny will play for the South Bay Lakers against the Valley Suns in Phoenix on Thursday.

This marks a notable change in attitude from the Lakers, who had originally opted for a different plan for Bronny. Last month, we heard that the Lakers were giving Bronny special treatment by only allowing him to play in G League home games and not allowing him to travel with the G League team for away games. In fact, Bronny has played three games in the G League so far, all at home at the Lakers’ El Segundo facility. In those three appearances, Bronny averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 26.3 minutes per game.

Bronny, 20, continues to sit on the Lakers’ bench and made his first NBA game appearance in nearly a month on December 7 (against Portland, he was held scoreless with a block in three mop-up minutes). ). However, the back-and-forth is now picking up, and Bronny will be playing in a G League game later this week in Phoenix (a few hundred miles east of Los Angeles).
