The latest on Georgia football QB's injury vs. Texas

ATLANTA – A strange play late in the first half of the SEC championship game left Georgia football starting quarterback Carson Beck on the field injured.

More than half a dozen employees surrounded Beck as he lay on the field at the end of the game.

Beck was sacked by Texas’ Trey Moore and fumbled while Anthony Hill returned the ball to the Georgia 23-yard line with offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild receiving the ball at the end of the half.

At halftime, Texas led 6-3.

Carson Beck injury update

Georgia Radio sideline reporter DJ Shockley indicated that Gunner Stockton will come into the game in the second half.

Beck was not seen as the players warmed up.

Georgia Radio sideline reporter DJ Shockley said: “It looks like now is Gunner time.”

Stockton was actually in the game. Georgia coach Kirby Smart told ABC before the second half that Beck was “out.”

Smart offered ABC an injury update on Beck before he left the field at halftime.

“They just said his hand was hit when he threw it there,” Smart said. “The guy was completely out of touch with what people do in this situation. He has to be aware of it and just get rid of the ball.”
