The Lions, already decimated on defense, lost two cornerbacks to injury in the first half against the Bills

The injury woes on the Detroit Lions’ defense continued Sunday, with the team losing two cornerbacks in the first half of the game against the Buffalo Bills. Carlton Davis III and Khalil Dorsey were injured and left the game early.

Davis went to the locker room first and underwent concussion protocol while being evaluated for a jaw injury. It was originally questionable whether Davis would return before he was later downgraded to out.

But even worse was Dorsey, who was carted off the field in the second quarter with a lower leg injury. Dorsey’s left foot was bent back at an awkward angle in a collision near the end zone and ended up being strapped to a backboard with an aircast on his left leg and carted to the locker room. The entire team gathered on the field while Dorsey was evaluated.

Dorsey was officially sidelined shortly afterward with an ankle injury.

It marks two more major blows to the Lions’ defense, which has already been decimated by injuries. Detroit has a slew of defensive players on injured reserve, including third-year defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who broke his leg in October. More than three quarters of the team’s injured players come from the defensive side.

At halftime, the Bills led the Lions 21-14.
