The Lions are waiting after the rookie cornerback’s X-ray came back negative

DETROIT – Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold suffered a foot injury and did not return for the team’s big Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Dan Campbell, Arnold’s X-ray results were negative. But the Lions’ head coach said his foot was tender and they wouldn’t know more until Monday.

The cornerback suffered the injury in the third quarter while making a tackle on Vikings running back Aaron Jones. Arnold appeared to be suffering from unfortunate friendly fire during the play when Brian Branch stepped on his outstretched foot.

Kindle Vildor finished the game at outside corner alongside Amik Robertson. Vildor nearly had a forced fumble and knocked the ball out of Justin Jefferson’s grasp in relief.

In other injury news, senior defensive lineman Pat O’Connor also left in the second half and did not return. The Lions said O’Connor’s injury affected his calf. Offensive guard Kevin Zeitler suffered a hamstring injury but was unable to watch the rest of the game on the sideline.

The good news is that the Lions earned a bye in the first round with the win. They don’t have to travel to Los Angeles for the wild card round and wait for the results around the NFC before knowing who’s coming to Detroit for the divisional round.
