The Lions’ rookie cornerback was carted off the field in the Week 18 game against the Vikings

DETROIT – The hits keep coming for the Detroit Lions and their struggling defense.

Terrion Arnold suffered a foot injury early in the third quarter. The first-round rookie cornerback needed help off the field and was quickly loaded onto the cart and taken to the back.

The Lions say it’s a cornerback foot injury. Arnold has started every game he has played in this season and had played the third-most snaps on defense entering the day. He’s officially listed as questionable, but it doesn’t look good for the rookie to return from Ford Field.

Detroit’s defense held things down as Arnold left the field, forcing the Vikings into their third field goal of the day. Entering the third quarter, the Lions lead the winner-take-all final against the Vikings 10-9.

The defense was strong and kept the Vikings out of the end zone despite three errors inside the 10-yard line. Two of those were turnovers on downs, while the Vikings scored a short field goal on the one scoring trip.

But Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw two interceptions today, both coming from the goal line alongside the resurgent defense.

With Arnold out, look for Amik Robertson and Kindle Vildor to finish the game at outside cornerback. Brian Branch has returned to the position and Ifeatu Melifonwu has continued to do a little bit of everything for Aaron Glenn’s defense.
