Less than a month after announcing plans to purchase a building in southwest Little Rock that will serve as a shelter and thrift store for the city’s homeless, a local nonprofit is “feverishly” searching for a building with “10,000 heated square feet.”

Aaron Reddin, founder and CEO of The Van, announced on Facebook Thursday that the planned purchase of the building at 8819 Arch Street Pike had fallen through.

According to Reddin, the reason is that the person who claimed to be the owner of the building “cannot provide any documentation of any kind that he has ever purchased this building in any way.”

This means there is no clear title for the building.

“So he can’t sell it,” Reddin said.
