Uh Today Officers were dispatched to the school on the east side of the city at 10:57 a.m. When they arrived, they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. Three people, including the shooter, are dead. The shooter has now been identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name Samantha. She was a student at the school and there is evidence that she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The official cause of death will be announced by the Dane County Medical Examiner pending the completion of the investigation. She was pronounced dead while being transported to the local hospital. *** Teacher and *** teenage student were pronounced dead at the scene. Uh, six other students and a damn teacher were injured at the school and taken to area hospitals. Two students remain in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. ***Teacher and three students were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Two of them were discharged and released from the hospital. The other two survivors are reported to be in stable condition. At this time we believe only one shooter was involved. We are still working to determine the motive. Investigators spoke with her family members this evening and conducted a search at the shooter’s home here in Madison. The shooting occurred in a study hall classroom with mixed-grade students. Uh, a damning document about this shooting is circulating on social media this time, but we haven’t verified its authenticity. The cheerful Christian school is monitored by police overnight. No one is permitted to enter or enter the school grounds at this time. Madison police are aware that people are hoping to hold a vigil at the school tonight.
