The market night on December 23rd is exclusively traditional in nature and returns to its roots.

The mayor presented the prepared plan for a night that will welcome thousands of people to the city center.

It will be the consolidation of the traditional event with its own security plan for tonight, said Cristina Pedra.

“We will have nothing other than Christmas carols that allude to Christmas and for families.” As for the performances, they are guaranteed by the singing brotherhood in the Fish Square from 11 p.m. to midnight and by groups on the streets from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. “

Cristina Barbosa will perform on an outdoor stage followed by a DJ playing Christmas music.

In terms of the safety plan, there are 142 active personnel and 18 resources such as ambulances and fire engines.

As for the occupancy of public spaces, for example, in Fernão de Ornelas from the 15th there will be 20 stalls and on Rua D. Carlos and in front of Casa da Luz there will be 9 pine sellers. In total there will be 53 stalls on the surrounding streets.

It should be noted that a platform with up-to-date information on stalls, tree-lined areas and available parking spaces will be available on the local authority’s website. The mayor also appealed to Madeirans to use public parks and preferably buses.

It should also be noted that the municipality’s budget for the market night is 57,000 euros.
