The Ohio State Buckeyes hand the Kentucky Wildcats a 20-point loss

The Kentucky Wildcats had their hands full against Ohio State on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. The 4th-ranked Cats were throttled by the Buckeyes 85-65. Statistically, the Cats were playing one of their worst halves early in the game, and the Buckeyes took advantage, shooting over 50% from the field. At halftime, OSU went into the locker room with a nine-point lead, 39-30. Things didn’t get any better in the second half as they extended their lead to 15 to start the second half before the Wildcats mounted a comeback. The Buckeyes ran into some foul trouble early in the game, which allowed Kentucky to play a little more aggressively and show signs of life. However, once the Cats cut OSU’s lead to six, the Buckeyes responded with more solid shooting, extending their lead back to 14 points after 13 minutes. With less than six minutes to play, Kentucky cut its lead to seven points, but then committed a costly turnover to allow OSU to regain control. The Buckeyes never looked back from there. The Buckeyes dominated Kentucky throughout the game, resulting in them shooting nearly 57% compared to Kentucky’s 30%. The Cats shot just 18% from beyond the arc to 27% at OSU and were also outrebounded 35-32. The only stat is Kentucky beat Ohio State on three trips to the free throw line, shooting 27-32, while the Buckeyes shot 21-27. That’s just the result of the Cats. It was the second loss of the year, but the team was far more dominated than in the four-point loss at Clemson.
