Jake Lloyd, who played young Anakin in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, shares an update on his mental health.

It’s been over 25 years since George Lucas tapped Jake Lloyd to play the young Anakin Skywalker Star Wars: The Phantom Menacebut the actor has struggled with a variety of mental and legal issues since his appearance in the franchise. Just last year, Lloyd’s mother Lisa shed some light on his mental health struggles, which included a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and a full-blown psychotic breakdown in the middle of a busy street.

Fortunately, we now have very good news. Journalist Clayton Sandell recently spoke with Lloyd, who completed an 18-month stay at an inpatient psychiatric facility in Southern California. Lloyd is currently residing in a new rehabilitation center.where he is still undergoing treatment but can basically come and go as he pleases.“When asked how he was doing, Lloyd said: “Pretty good considering the 20 years that have now come to an end. I can now accept further treatment, therapy and my medication. Everyone was very supportive.“

Lloyd added that hitting “Low point“was what he needed”Participate honestly in treatment, take your medications honestly, and live honestly with your diagnosis.“The actor also commented on the love he has received star Wars fans. “The experience I have had with the fans is immediately therapeutic,“he said. “For now it’s still therapeutic. It is helpful for humans and healthy. It’s not something I would shy away from. I really appreciate the time that was taken from us. I am very grateful.“Some have believed that the negative reaction to The Phantom Menace aggravated Lloyd’s condition, but his mother disagreed and said it would have happened anyway.

Lloyd’s mother said: “Jake is actually doing much better than he was. It’s a big relief for me and the rest of his family. We’re all just thrilled that he’s doing so well and that he’s working really hard at it. We appreciate that.” What star WarsLloyd hasn’t watched any movies or TV shows recently, but he said he was “I endured the fourth of May with my mother.“It’s great to hear that Lloyd is doing so much better and we wish him all the best in his recovery.”
