The Philadelphia 76ers forward has been ruled out for the matchup against the Charlotte Hornets

After battling hard on Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers will face the Charlotte Hornets again on Friday evening. They will continue to be shorthanded as one of their starters has already been ruled out for the match.

When these teams faced off on Monday, the Sixers were able to pull out a double-digit win thanks to strong performances from Tyrese Maxey and Paul George. The all-star pair will once again be asked to take the lead, but this time on home soil.

According to the latest injury report, Caleb Martin will remain on the sidelines for Friday’s return game against the Hornets. He is expected to miss his third straight game as he continues to battle a shoulder injury. The last time Martin was in the lineup was against the Chicago Bulls for two weeks, where he only played 13 minutes.

Over the summer, Martin was considered one of the Sixers’ biggest free agent steals. Between injury and adjusting to a new role, the veteran forward had a rough patch early in his Philly tenure. In his first 20 games, Martin averaged 8.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.3 APG while shooting 29.4% from distance.

Missing out on another match with the Hornets is a tough blow for Martin as he won’t get a chance to face his twin brother Cody. However, in the Sixers’ first two meetings of the year against the Hornets, he had a chance to add a new chapter to their sibling rivalry.

While Martin is still out, Kelly Oubre Jr., KJ Martin and Ricky Council IV are all players who could see increased minutes in his absence.
