The Pro Football Hall of Fame announces 15 modern finalists for the Class of 2025

The selection committee may select up to five Modern Era players for the class of 2025; Everyone must receive a positive majority of at least 80% for the election. Five others – senior category finalists Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe and Jim Tyrer; are also candidates for the Class of 2025, along with Coach Finalist Mike Holmgren and Contributor Finalist Ralph Hay. Voting for these five occurs separately as a separate group, distinct from the Modern-Era Players; According to the Hall’s statutes, a minimum of one person and a maximum of three people may be elected from these combined categories.

While there is no set number for any class of Enshrinees, the Hall of Fame’s current selection process requires that between four and eight new members be selected.

The finalists in the Modern-Era Player category were selected by the Hall’s independent selection committee from a list of 167 nominees. It was reduced twice more (to 50 nominees and to 25 semifinalists) before being reduced to the 15 finalists.

The selection process is consistent with the Hall of Fame’s important mission to “honor the sport’s greatest, preserve their history, promote their values and celebrate excellence together.”

This year’s voting process will be conducted via online platforms under the supervision of the law firm Ernst & Young LLP. EY’s agreed procedures included validating ballot completeness and tabulating ballots in accordance with bylaws established by Hall’s Board of Directors.

EY has overseen the Hall’s selection process since the Centennial Class of 2020.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025, presented by Visual Edge IT, will be awarded in August in Canton.
