With the score tied, there were still nine minutes left and the Rams still needed to put together another defensive stop to prevent the Saints from potentially tying the game or winning the game later. The defense would bend but not push deep into its own territory.

The Saints put together a nearly eight-minute drive that whittled down the clock until the final minute of the game and took the ball to the Rams’ 16-yard line on another set of downs. The Saints were close to tying the score, but the Rams defense said, “Not this time.”

On fourth-and-3 from the Rams’ nine-yard line, the Saints quarterback dropped back to pass, examined his targeting options and took a second too long for Rams linebacker Jared Verse to break through and get to Carr, taking him with him hit his throwing arm and forced an incompletion.

The Rams would then take over the downs inside their own 10-yard line, with some work still to be done. The Saints had timeouts and wanted to see if they could get the ball back with a Rams three-and-out. Instead, Rams rusher Kyren Williams sealed the game with an 11-yard rush for a first down.

The winning lineup would follow and the Rams did everything they could in the final quarter to win a hard-fought ballgame. This team has shown that it can come up big in crucial moments, but this victory required multiple players on different routes to achieve it.

Complementary football was on full display as the offense came through with a dominant attack while the defense remained strong in the red zone. It was a complete victory with both sides on the ball playing a big role. The Rams stay in playoff contention with a crucial comeback win.
