The Ravens cut Diontae Johnson to end the disastrous post-trade marriage

One catch for six yards.

That’s all Diontae Johnson contributed to the Baltimore Ravens on the field before the talented but struggling wide receiver was unceremoniously removed from the game by the team on Friday afternoon.

Johnson, who was traded to the Carolina Panthers for another fifth-round pick in October along with a fifth-round pick, recorded as many blocks as receptions with the Ravens.

The former Pro Bowler was suspended for refusing to play in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 1, which the Ravens noted on their own website when they announced his release.

Pro Football Reference notes that Johnson played a total of 39 snaps in four games with the Ravens, being targeted just five times.

With the Panthers this season, Johnson recorded 30 catches for 357 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Johnson was initially traded to the Panthers for starting cornerback Donte Jackson and a late-round pick swap.

Jackson has five interceptions this season, tied for fourth in the NFL, and has started all 14 of Pittsburgh’s appearances this season.

Johnson played for the Steelers through the 2023 season after the team selected him in Round 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-10 wideout peaked in 2021 when he recorded 107 catches for 1,161 receiving yards and eight touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 28-year-old Johnson was headed for free agency this offseason – now he’s getting a head start on finding his next target.
