Avid Robert Pattinson fans will have to wait even longer for the actor to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ long-awaited film The Batman Consequence.

The Batman: Part 2 – the follow-up to Reeves’ acclaimed 2022 DC Superhero Noir, which starred Pattinson as the titular superhero opposite Zoë Kravitz as his love interest Seline Kyle – was originally scheduled to hit theaters on October 3, 2025.

Due to Hollywood writers and actors’ strikes in 2023, the release was ultimately pushed back a full year to October 2, 2026. Maggie Gyllenhaal instead The bride!starring former Batman star Christian Bale, will open on the sequel’s first release date of October 2025.

However, Warner Bros. announced in a new update on Friday (December 27) that The Batman: Part 2 will not be released in theaters until October 1, 2027.

The studio did not give a reason for the schedule adjustment, but revealed that the postponement left a vacancy for a new, untitled film from Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Tom Cruise, which will instead take the vacated Imax opening slot on October 2, 2026 would take.

While details about director Iñárritu’s upcoming film remain under wraps, Warner Bros. has announced the film’s plot. The film portrays Cruise as “the most powerful man in the world” and follows him as he “embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity before the cataclysm he unleashed destroys everything.”

The Oscar-nominated German actress Sandra Hülser (Anatomy of a fall And The zone of interest), John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde and Riz Ahmed also star in the star-studded film.

In the meantime, The Batman: Part 2 will welcome the return of Pattinson, Kravitz, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

The role is also expected to expand Salt burn Star Barry Keoghan, portrayed as a mysterious Arkham Asylum inmate who befriends The Riddler at the end of the first film and is expected to become a version of The Joker.

Warner Bros. has also changed the premiere dates for Bong Joon-ho’s Pattinson-directed sci-fi adventure Mickey 17 and Ryan Coogler’s horror film sinner with Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld.

Mickey 17 will hit theaters on March 7, 2025 sinner has been pushed back to April 18, 2025 to give Bong’s title a longer theatrical run at Imax, studio sources said diversity.
