The response to Jay Z's civil lawsuit demands the identification of the rape accuser

Jay-Z is pushing for the woman accusing him of rape to be forced to reveal her identity or have her lawsuit against him dismissed.

A lawyer for Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, made the request Monday, a day after an anonymous accuser alleged that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted her in 2000, when she was 13. drugged and raped.

“Mr. Carter should not have to defend himself in the brightest spotlight against an accuser who hides in complete darkness and makes allegations that describe the alleged acts occurring in front of witnesses who could refute the plaintiff’s claims, if only hers Identity would be revealed,” the file said.

The music mogul’s filing on Monday also alleged that the rape allegation was part of a “blackmail campaign” by Tony Buzbee, the lawyer who filed Jane Doe’s complaint. This “blackmail campaign” attempted to force the rapper to pay an “exorbitant” amount of money, and when he refused to do so, the demands were a “clear act of retaliation,” he claimed.

“Make no mistake, this case is about retaliation against the rare target who wouldn’t pay,” the filing says.

Buzbee told USA TODAY in an email Monday that he “cannot and will not respond to all court filings,” but added: “Sending a basic demand is not extortion or blackmail.” Throwing around such accusations is irresponsible and silly.”

The amended complaint filed Sunday alleged that Carter and Combs sexually assaulted the anonymous woman at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.

In a blistering statement released on Sunday, Jay-Z strongly denied the allegations and accused Buzbee of trying to blackmail him.

“You made a terrible error in judgment by thinking all ‘celebrities’ were the same,” he said, addressing Buzbee. “I don’t come from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of Project Brooklyn. We don’t play games like that. We have very strict rules of conduct and honor.”
