Today and tonight: There will be a few showers and occasional rumbles of thunder during the Friday morning commute as a line of weakening storms moves across the Capital Region. Once the morning rain subsides, drier conditions will prevail throughout the day. Friday will be unseasonably warm, with morning lows around 70° and highs in the mid-70s. Expect mostly cloudy skies to begin with, but the sun will break through this afternoon.

Clouds will quickly form again overnight and fog may return on Saturday morning. Temperatures will start out in the mid 60s on Saturday.

Next: Another wave of storms is expected on Saturday as the capital region remains sandwiched between a warm front to the north and a stalled cold front to the west. A cold front will finally move through the state early Sunday morning, ending the threat of severe weather and bringing back dry and sunny conditions. There will be no major drop in temperatures after this cold front, so you can expect warm afternoons through the end of the year.
