A deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans early on New Year’s Day impacted the College Football Playoff schedule. The Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame was scheduled to be played on Wednesday as the fourth and final quarterfinal. The game was postponed until Thursday afternoon.

In the meantime, the rest of the bowl schedule continues. There was already a game scheduled for Thursday, but it is a permanent name in the New Year’s calendar. Additionally, the winner picks up their 10th win of the season, which is still a remarkable achievement in the sport even if it doesn’t take place in a playoff environment.

Why watch: The round of 16 ends with this heavyweight showdown of the fabled programs. In a first round of dominant performances, the Fighting Irish might have delivered the most impressive performance, shutting down Indiana’s potent passing game. The talented back seven, led by DB Xavier Watts and LB Jack Kiser, now turns its attention to Bulldogs QB Gunner Stockton, who will make his high-stakes starting debut. He’ll bring an element of mobility to the offense that starter Carson Beck didn’t have, but he may still need to lean on RBs Trevor Etienne and Nate Frazier to limit his risk. Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart is headed to the NFL, but will play one last time for the Rebels, and he should have WRs Cayden Lee and Jordan Watkins available. The Blue Devils’ QB Malik Murphy and RB star Thomas both rotate, leaving the Duke offense in the hands of little-used backup QB Henry Belin IV.
