The Seahawks are coming off an ugly win over the Bears to stay in the NFC West title game

Both offenses in this game weren’t pretty, but the Seattle Seahawks earned a decisive victory over the Chicago Bears 6-3 on “Thursday Night Football.”

Seattle is 9-7 this season and they will be watching to see what the Los Angeles Rams do against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night as the game between both teams in Week 18 will determine the winner of the NFC West.

Meanwhile, the Bears are already looking ahead to next season at 4-12.

As can be seen from the score, no touchdowns were scored in this game as both teams struggled to find pay dirt.

That didn’t appear to be the case when the Seahawks’ first drive ended after an incomplete pass from Geno Smith to Tyler Lockett on third-and-3 from Chicago’s nine-yard line.

They moved the ball well on the game’s first drive and settled for a field goal, but seemed to have the plan to beat the Bears’ defense.

That wasn’t the case with three straight punts on subsequent drives for Seattle before settling for another field goal late in the first half. However, Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offense didn’t do much to spoil the game.

Chicago ran a total of 11 plays in its first three drives, floundering again and again until some life came on the fourth drive. In fact, it seemed like we had our first touchdown of the game when Williams hit fellow rookie Rome Odunze for a 17-yard score with 3:27 remaining in the second quarter.

But right guard Jake Curhan was called for an offensive hold, which negated the touchdown, and the Bears ultimately settled for three points – their only score of the game.

There was no point on the scoreboard in the second half as both offenses showed ineptitude. However, there was another moment where the Bears appeared to score, and it was on defense after forcing a fumble from Seahawks receiver Pharoah Brown.

Kyler Gordon grabbed the ball and ran 62 yards to the house. However, it was later ruled that Gordon was down due to contact, negating another Bears touchdown. Six plays later that generated just one yard total, the Bears chipped away.

In the final stretch of the game, the Bears were in control, and although they didn’t score any goals, they still had a chance to at least tie the game and force overtime. Williams kept the drive alive with several scramble plays, including a heave on fourth and fifth to find DJ Moore, who moved the chains.

However, when faced with a fourth-and-10 just outside Cairo Santos field goal range, Williams was forced to throw a ball into the air on a blitz called by Seattle, which was intercepted, for the Seahawks’ victory to seal.

According to the stats, Smith was 17 of 23 for 160 yards, while Zach Charbonnet, starting again in place of the injured Kenneth Walker III, rushed for 57 yards on 15 carries. Kenny McIntosh added 46 yards on seven carries.
