The Seahawks QB suffers a knee injury in the game against the Packers

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had to go to the locker room with an injury midway through the third quarter of Seattle’s Sunday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers.

Smith was hit flat by several Packers defenders after throwing the ball away on a first-down pass attempt. After remaining on the field for a few more minutes, he received medical attention from the Seattle training staff.

Although Smith left the field under his own power, he entered the blue medical tent shortly after arriving on the sideline. A few minutes later, NBC’s broadcast showed the veteran quarterback walking back to the Seahawks’ locker room.

The Seahawks listed Smith as questionable to return due to a knee injury.

Backup quarterback Sam Howell is on duty for Seattle, but Smith returned to the Seahawks sideline late in the third quarter.

Geno Smith injury update

The Seahawks declared Smith questionable to return for their Sunday Night Football game against the Packers due to a knee injury.

The 34-year-old suffered the injury when he was hit in the legs by several Green Bay defenders. Smith had just thrown away a pass under pressure when the Packers’ pass rush arrived.

Smith went back to the locker room after a quick trip to the blue medical tent. He returned to the Seahawks sideline a few minutes later, but the NBC broadcast showed him grimacing and shaking his head.

Seattle’s quarterbacks room is down to two after Smith’s injury in the third quarter on “Sunday Night Football.” This is what it looks like in week 15:

The Seahawks acquired Howell in a trade with the Washington Commanders in March. Seattle received Howell, a fourth-round and sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, in exchange for its third- and fifth-round picks. He starts for Smith in Week 15, his second time this season and his first since a snap in Week 7.
