The Sopranos’ Edie Falco calls Joel Embiid “mean”

“More is lost through indecision than through a wrong decision,” is one of Edie Falco’s most memorable lines from her role as Carmela The sopranos This means that sometimes the consequences of never making a decision outweigh those of making the wrong decision.

But in this case, a poor decision by Sixers center Joel Embiid led to another of Falco’s more memorable lines: “Joel Embiid, he’s mean.”

Falco, the three-time Emmy winner and die-hard New York Knicks fan, joined Nova Knicks Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart on their podcast The Roommates Show. Towards the end of the episode, Falco had a lot to get off his chest.

“Joel Embiid, he’s mean,” Falco said. “He elbowed you in a game last year and I wanted to go after him. I mean, that’s how bad it was. And I think I’ve seen you guys play since then and you’re all cool with each other. I get the impression you don’t hold any grudges?”

The elbow Falco is referring to occurred in Game 4 of last year’s first-round playoff series between the two teams at Madison Square Garden. In a physically hard-fought game, Knicks fans – including Falco – were upset by a no-call after they believed the 76ers’ star center had gotten away with a cheap shot at Brunson.

While Falco was upset about the game, Brunson has ignored the incident and added that it was nothing personal between the two.

“I don’t hold grudges for the most part, yeah,” Brunson said. “I knew Joel before I even came into the league. I met him a few times. It’s all about respect. I think there’s a particular line that’s related to this. There’s respect and you compete, and when it’s all done, it’s good. I’m not saying it’s cool, but it’s good.

“There are some people that for the most part you respect and are cool with, and to me he’s certainly one of those guys.”

You might think Brunson’s statement was enough to sway Falco in Embiid’s favor — that and the fact that the Knicks had the last laugh last year, knocking the Sixers out of the playoffs — but that wasn’t the case.

“I don’t know, I don’t agree with you,” Falco replied.

The Sixers are next at Madison Square Garden on February 26th.
