The spin-off series “Beth and Rip” continues

The Yellowstone saga isn’t over yet, as Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will bring their characters Beth and Rip to a new spin-off of the series. diversity has confirmed by sources close to the production.

Paramount representatives declined to comment.

The news comes days before the season finale of Yellowstone’s fifth season proper, which was long speculated to be a series finale due to star Kevin Costner’s departure midway through the season. His chaotic exit led to the most recent group of six Doour episodes, which focused primarily on the death of his character John.

The idea of Reilly and Hauser filming additional Yellowstone episodes beyond the fifth season first emerged in August when they were courted to direct a sixth season of the Paramount Network series. However, a more likely option would be a spin-off, which sources say would still feature “Yellowstone” in the title as it would be classified as an entirely new series. That would allow Paramount to keep it within its own streaming ecosystem, while parent series “Yellowstone” currently airs on the linear Paramount Network but streams on NBCUniversal’s Peacock service.

Christina Alexandra Voros, an executive producer of “Yellowstone,” spoke diversity about how the final episode of season five will give fans closure.

“I think this final episode brings us to the end of an era,” she said. “It’s impossible to talk about this in detail without taking my hat off to what’s to come. But I think (co-creator and writer) Taylor (Sheridan) managed – and I’m really not sure how he did it, I think it’s kind of masterful – to bring the ending to something that feels both shocking and fateful same time. You have to get to the end of the story to fully understand everything that came before.”

Deadline was first to report the news.
