The strong wind warning is in effect from 4pm today

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) – A WARNING: Strong winds was released from 4 p.m. Sunday to 4 p.m. Monday for Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Genesee and Orleans counties. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour could cause trees and power lines to fall, resulting in isolated power outages. Traveling can be difficult for high profile vehicles.
WIND ADVISORY is issued for Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties from 4:00 p.m. Sunday to 4:00 p.m. Monday

WARNING: Lakeshore flooding Issued from 10:00 p.m. Sunday to 1:00 p.m. Monday for Erie and Chautauqua counties. Residents on or near the shore should take steps to protect their property from rapidly rising water and high waves during this time.

A strong storm system will bring unusually warm air, rain and strong winds to WNY today. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50s with periods of rain. Strong to strong winds will develop this afternoon. Gusts of wind could affect the kicking game, especially in the second half when the Bills face the Jets. Towards the end of the year temperatures will drop. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 40s. Rain showers are expected for New Year’s Eve, which could mix with wet snow for the ball drop, with temperatures around 30 degrees. Significantly colder air will arrive towards the end of the week and into next weekend.
