The teen actor from “Baby Driver” was 16 and died as a result of a fall

Hudson Meek, a teenage actor who appeared in Edgar Wright’s film “Baby Driver,” died Dec. 22 in Alabama after falling from a moving vehicle. He was 16.

“It breaks our hearts to tell you that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” he said in a post on his Instagram account. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a significant impact on everyone he met.”

According to local news site AL.com, the accident occurred Thursday evening in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Meek “sustained blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle onto the roadway,” Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told AL.com. Meek was taken to a hospital and died Saturday evening. Vestavia Hills police are investigating his death.

Meek had several acting roles in the 2010s and 2020s, the biggest of which was in the 2017 action film Baby Driver. He played a young version of Ansel Elgort’s main character Baby, a professional getaway driver with a passion for music. He also appeared in MacGyver, The School Duet, Genius, Found, Legacies, Union, Momma Jenny & the Brooks Boys, Providence, Half Pint and 90th “ on Minutes,” “The List,” and “The Santa Con.”

“Specific details about a celebration of Hudson’s life to be held on December 28th, as well as how to contribute in lieu of flowers to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School, follow,” the post reads his Instagram account. “Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”
