The three biggest takeaways for the Sixers after another road win against the Jazz

The Philadelphia 76ers added another goal to their list of victories on Saturday evening with a 114:111 away win against the Utah Jazz. The Sixers are now 9-3 since a 3-14 start to the season and are 2-0 on this current 6-game road trip. Philadelphia overcame an initial 14-point deficit to get the job done on the road.

Joel Embiid scored 32 points, five rebounds and four assists for Philadelphia, while Tyrese Maxey added 32 points and six assists. Paul George had 13 points and five steals, Guerschon Yabusele had 12 and eight rebounds off the bench and Kelly Oubre Jr. had nine points.

Here are the three biggest takeaways from this victory over the Jazz:

Paul George’s defense

Make no mistake, the Sixers will need George to figure this out on offense. He needs to get better as the team progresses, but on the other hand, his defense has been outstanding. He blew up everything the Jazz wanted to try on offense and actively got into the passing lanes and made sure Philadelphia could get the stops they needed to get a win. It wasn’t a great defensive night for the Sixers overall, but George was fantastic in his minutes in that regard.

Embiid as a scooter

This was a striking aspect of Embiid’s night on Saturday. He rolled hard to the basket off the screens instead of diving and making jumps at midcourt. If he’s able to get in the game, he’ll obviously have a better chance of getting cleaner looks on offense. He’s so big and so skilled that when he actually rolled, the Jazz weren’t able to really stop him. He was also capable of making difficult catches which allowed him to score easily.

Maxey reaches the foul line

Maxey entered this contest averaging 5.5 free throws per game. He picked up 10 in that match and struck out nine of them. The Jazz deserve credit for bothering him early in the night with their length and ability to get physical with him, but the rising star managed to put his head down, get into the zone and lure defenders. That got him going and the Sixers were able to follow after a lopsided start that saw Utah take the lead.
